CAN A FANZINE MAKE A DIFFERANCE?

YES IT CAN!

The Battle To Save Celtic is a new mini-series by The Celtic Exchange marking 30 years since Fergus McCann’s Takeover of Celtic in March 1994. The early 90s were a treacherous time for Celtic on and off the park, as the club found itself lurching from one crisis to the next. Fans were up in arms at what was going on, but in those pre-internet times had few places to express their viewpoints. Not The View Fanzine was created in 1987 and quickly became a fans favourite due to its humorous take on all things Celtic, whilst also providing a voice for regular Celtic supporters. Here The Celtic Exchange are joined by Gerry Dunbar and Joe Miller from NTV who tell us about the origins of the fanzine as well as the part it played in The Battle To Save Celtic.

WE PEAKED AT PAPER

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a compilation of twenty in-depth interviews with editors of fanzines from the past and present and with the authors being former zine editors themselves there is a lot of back and forth on the highs and lows of producing those paper delights we all know and love. They look at a wide range of different zines from science fiction to music and there is an interview with Dave Thomas the editor of the Queens Park Rangers fanzine A Kick Up The R’s.
